The title of the book says it all...The 36-Hour Day. Although written as a guide to caring for persons with Alzheimer's and related diseases, it's true for anyone caring for an older adult who can no longer card for themselves. A mother, father. A husband. A wife. At times, the needs are more than one person can supply. Eventually, we wear down. We give out. And, shockingly, two of every three caregivers die before those for whom they are caring.

The Patio was born of a passion to make a difference - caring for loved ones while caregivers get a well-deserved afternnon off! For a few hours each week, members of Midland Lutheran Church, Church on the Journey, and the Senior Companion Program of Midland help you discover time - just for yourself...

...time to go to the movies, to shop, to run errands, or to sit back and do absolutely nothing! Imagine! Four hours just for you! Call it a day out, a respite, or, simply, a breather! You gain a moment away from the stress and strain of caring while the ones for whom you care gain a day out, a respite, and a breather, as well! Listening to music! Exercising! Doing puzzles! Playing bingo! Dominos! Snacks! Or just relaxing on The Patio...with new friends!
